Nestled at the heart of Central Park is the Delacorte Theater, the crown of Central Park. This historic theater is awaiting a much-anticipated renovation, since its last recorded renovation in the 1970s. The design team was tasked with using the existing structure of the grandstand, making it a centerpiece to the renovation.. The canted wood facade embraces the existing structure and wraps around it to enclose the theater. A canopy extends over the entire ticketing plaza where it meets the sidewalls shaped by sound's parabolic nature. The renovation also created accessible ramps and updated amenities for the actors.
